What a way to celebrate Santa Clarita’s Sister Cities! Hundreds of community members experienced the culture and traditions of the Philippines, Ecuador, and Japan at the City of Santa Clarita’s “Celebrate: Sister Cities” event on May 6. Attendees enjoyed performances by Japanese, Ecuadorian, and Filipino musicians and dancers, got a taste of these countries’ cuisine, and participated in different hands-on activities, including making a parol (Philippine Christmas lantern), origami, and a blowgun (traditional hunting method in the Amazon rainforest). They also experienced riding on a jeepney, the most popular form of public transportation in the Philippines, and went on a jungle walk through the Amazon.
