Three high school students, chaperoned by a City of Matsudo employee, spent a week in Santa Clarita in March. They were welcomed by Mayor Pro Tem Cameron Smyth at City Hall after which Santa Clarita Sister Cities hosted a welcome reception for the delegation and their host families. The students attended classes and various activities at Academy of the Canyons where they were welc0med warmly by the student body. They also participated in the Sister Cities Charity Hike and enjoyed the City’s beautiful trails and open space. It was a successful exchange and, based on the sadness and tears that surrounded the farewell event, both the Matsudo and AOC students gained a lot from the experience, learned about each other’s culture, and have made lifelong friends.
